Music maker. Queer. Black. Mama. Artist dejure.???????????????????

A multi-disciplinary artist, sound engineer and educator with work rooted in poetry, storytelling and activism, AhSa-Ti Nu utilizes her voice as a means of expressing soulful words in a contemporary context. Established as a solo artist in 2015, AhSa-Ti Nu creates soulfully-based music in a contemporary context to tell the untold stories of marginalized communities. She has severed and educated in the community working with organizations such as Black Girls Play, Queer Rebels Festival and City of
Refuge United Church of Christ and more. Her music compositions often bring light to the marginalized and oppressed and are reminiscent of the rich history of African American music.
For years, AhSa-Ti performed as a background vocalist with accomplished artists in various genres. Having performed with artists such as Bishop Yvette Flunder and Shirley Miller of the renowned Edwin Hawkins ensemble, Meklit Hadero, Sean Hayes, Quinn DeVeaux, The Stone Foxes and many more, she has become a veteran to the stage and recording studio. As an accomplished sound engineer, she has worked with a vast number of artists and celebrities. In her community engagement work, she has served as an instructor and mentor for the Black Girls Play organization, the Brava Theater youth program as well as with the Center of Creative Arts youth theater program. Through her work with City of Refuge in Oakland, CA, she has served as a social justice advocate in numerous ways, such as helping to provide food, clothing and hygiene supplies to those suffering from homelessness. AhSa-Ti is the founder of the National Black Liberation Alliance, a grassroots organization dedicated to the betterment of marginalized communities with a specific focus on the Black community. AhSa-Ti Nu has served on the music board for City of Refuge and worked to create free music events and workshops for the community. She has performed on behalf of numerous charities such as Love for Levi for Suicide Awareness, Faria Elementry Walk-a-Thon for Better Education, Oakland’s Fight for Equality, and many more.
It is AhSa-Ti Nu’s goal to push the boundaries of commonplace practices of injustice in American society, and to inspire others to do the same. In a time where lives continue to be challenged and even taken due to race, gender, sexual or affectional orientation, it is imperative to empower those who are oppressed. It is more important than ever to represent and celebrate the strength, resilience and perseverance our queer women communities have demonstrated for generations and to give voice for generations to come.
